Winter theme afternoon

Rather than our usual Children's University courses, today children spent time with different teachers.

Years 1, 2 and 3 spent time with Mrs Longhawn, Miss Morris and Mrs Quinn.

Years 4, 5 and 6 spent time with Mrs Warner, Mr Lee and Mr Riley.

Here are some photos from Mrs Warner's Purple Mash sessions.

Animal club - Reindeer

This week because we had all been getting in the Christmas spirit decorating our
classrooms we decided to have a look at the animals that Santa relies on the most.......reindeer.  We all went outside and worked in teams to answer questions and find out more about reindeers.

Did you know that girl reindeer grow antlers as well as the boy reindeer and that reindeer are good swimmers because they use their scooped hooves to move the water?

Guinea pigs visit to animal club

A bog thank you to Mrs B and R for bringing in their pet guinea pigs.  They proved very popular and were fantastically behaved letting the children up close to give them lots of strokes.

Answering all our clubbers questions.
The animal clubbers went on to draw some super pictures of the guinea pigs.  The prize for finding out why guinea pigs are called guinea pigs is still up for grabs as no one has found out a plausible answer....see Mrs L if you have any answers.

Reptile spotted in animal club

We had an amazing visitor this week in animal club.....a bearded dragon lizard.  Have a look at the pictures to see what a magnificent creature he was.

Here he's eyeing up his favourite snack of live locusts.

He really could move very fast which did startle a few animal clubbers
Mrs Longhawn included !!!
We learnt so much about this interesting creature like he turns black when he's grumpy and he can't eat anything bigger than his head.  Thank you so much to the parent and grandparent that brought him in for us.
